Shravanabelagola

Shravanabelagola is a historical and pilgrimage site located in Hassan district of Karnataka, India. It is famous for the huge statue of Lord Gommateshwar (Baahubali) which is a single stone which is one of the tallest freestanding statues in the world. Location :

Sravanabelagola is located about 144 km west of Bangalore, the capital of Karnataka, and 83 km northeast of Mysore.

Bahubali Statue :

The main attraction of Shravan Belagola is the monolithic idol of Lord Gommateswara, also known as Bahubali. Standing 57 feet (17 meters) high, it is carved from a single granite rock on the Vindhyagiri hill.

Mahamastakabhisheka :

One of the important events of Shravan Belagola is the Mahamastakabhishekam, the grand and spectacular abhishekam of the idol of Bahubali which takes place once in every 12 years and devotees and tourists from all over the world gather to witness this ceremony with various a it is as pleasant as milk bath the idol , saffron flour and sandalwood.

Vindhyagiri and Chandragiri Hills :

Bhadrabahu Cave and Kalamma Temple :

Bhadrabahu cave, named after a revered Jain sage, is another important place in the Vindhyagiri ranges. Kalamma Temple is also nearby.

Akkihebbal :

Akkihebbal village at the base of the mountain has a huge lake called Akkihebbal Tank. Travelers and visitors often use this pool for ritual bathing.
